Two Encounters of Censoring by Moody Radio

1st Encounter – Morning Talk show host Karl and Crew – Recently Early Biden

Which brings me to an encounter I recently had with the Moody Radio Talk show host Karl and Crew.   I was looking at their Facebook account and discovered that the host Karl had cancer.  And feeling sympathetic as I watched his video, I felt led to provide a link to a song video “Psalm 23” of mine that might be uplifting thinking it would encourage him.   It’s a radical version for today’s youth without the slow tune hymns we’re use to!  Around the same time, I found a perfect topic on their Facebook morning show page that had questions about “Who made me?”, “Why am I here?”, “Where do I look for truth?”, and “What happens when I die?”

So, I said wow what a perfect opportunity to put a link to my song Video “Who am I” because I address the struggles a person goes through in life while trying to find a compass in life.

And to my surprise, I got a Spam notice from Facebook on the “Who Am I” Song Video.  Did you know that Facebook keeps track of Spams and it counts negatively against Christians? Then I asked my wife to see if my link of my “Psalm 23 “ Song Video was still there on the Google YouTube video of Karl having cancer.   It looks like I was banned there on google YouTube video or also my link and comments were removed ! Did you know the Google is another tracker of Christian activities and they keep a record of negative events?

So are Christians suppressing Christians or censoring just like Google or Facebook?

So, one might ask, now who’s suppressing God’s truth these days?  We all know about China, and various parts of the world today that they are persecuted but hardly aware that Christians are silencing Christians from spreading the Good News of Christ! The response back from Christians might be, we have our rules and procedures and if you don’t follow them, then don’t post. So the big tech are doing the same thing and Christians are calling it bad and oh its so wrong as we are stifling free speech!

Does the “Who Am I” violate any Facebook community standards? You go and listen to the songs and be the judge.   We can’t all agree on all things but when truth stares you straight in the face, why reject it and call it Spam for dumb reasons that I’ll describe below.

Yes, I wrote back and replied that I didn’t appreciate their Spam and they replied briefly that I was welcomed on their Facebook page.  At that time, I didn’t know they also removed my link on google YouTube for the Psalm 23 song video as I would have mentioned it too.

They replied with general comments at my displeasure.   We don’t accept self-promotion of people and reject links and there is nothing personal!  Here is their response….

Good morning, again! I can’t say for certain what triggered the response from Facebook but I do know that our social media guidelines state that we don’t allow promotion and will remove urls.  We have to apply this consistently since there’s no way we can personally vet every single link. It’s never personal and you are more than welcome on our page. Thanks for understanding, and for being a part of the Boom Crew! 

Is the Karl and Crew argument valid?

Is their argument valid? I would say if they had thousands upon thousands of links they had to vet each day then yes, but there are really few who go to their site and make comments.  It’s a flimsy argument. 

They can’t say for certain what triggered the response from Facebook but again they blocked or removed my link on their Google YouTube video too!  Their link of Karl and his cancer can be found on their Facebook morning page. So now I have a negative mark against me on the social media and it happened in two places very close in time, but they can’t tell me exactly how it happened or what triggered it?

So, I spend days writing a song and performing it over and over again with the motivation that it might lift a heart up in depression and I get a blanket statement from the Moody morning show that we don’t accept links of self-promotion but was on target of the subject matter!

Ok so, the Moody Morning show can have folks send in their pictures of dogs, speak about people, ask folks to participate in their articles but can’t accept a link because there are too many to monitor or vet?  Look at the stats and see that there aren’t many responding to their articles.   Actually, not many are looking at Karl’s video that describe his health issues!

I wrote back with these words,

“every time the station mentions a person, a quote, or a group, even a secular group, the Morning show is indirectly sponsoring them.  But perhaps they can call out a video song “Who am I” as a url that is self-promoting instead of looking at the higher Birdseye view of pointing a person to Christ.” linked to their Facebook page. 

Is Moody Radio flexible in sharing the Good News?

If the Moody Radio Morning show was flexible in folks sharing their testimonies and spreading the Good News of Christ, instead of creating a SPAM that goes against Christians on a social network, all they need to do to encourage Free Speech is say upfront, “We do not endorse web pages or their comments unless otherwise noted but allow them because there are a variety of expressions of beliefs in the Christian Community. ” 

Actually, I am not really debating the free speech issue conservatives are having with Twitter or Facebook whether social networks are a platform or a publisher?   A platform is to be neutral and just provide a vehicle to pass information around.  A publisher is one that edits, restricts or removes the material before its available to the public and conservative’s feel Facebook, YouTube and Twitter are censoring Christian viewpoints.

But I am debating the silencing, the suppression of spreading the Gospel of Jesus in any form possible, a song video link to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ is censored, is suppressed because of some policy that they restrict url’s and self-promoters.

• I am not selling soap or a car or speaking indecently or using foul language but am providing Biblical songs with Jesus Centered lyrics with a message to encourage and build up the Body of Christ with spiritual messages!
• The song video “Who Am I” was provided in full content FREE and had the option to purchase for a couple of bucks.
• The link to Psalm 23 on Karl’s Cancer Video was to encourage him.
• My Home Front page describes my vision of those entering my site, with myself in the back seat with no honor centered around me by self-promoting an individual but just the opposite by promoting Christ.
• There is no money to be made on selling music, and I do this because I love to express myself in music with a spiritual message.  I’ve labored many hours or days to make a song and if one likes it, they can pay for it as they do any other item.

Simple Solution

Again, the simple solution could be just making a statement that Moody Radio does not endorse the content of links and are not promoting a group or persons.

My point in writing this post is that Christian do suppress other Christians!  We are worried about Google, Facebook, and Twitter shutting down our free speech on Conservative values, but what about Christians silencing Christians while trying to spread the good news of Jesus Christ?   Look at the Christian organization, and supposedly Christian radio stations?   Do they not hold blame for silencing Christians while they are so pious by stating they do not accept self-promotion and links to websites. And the suppressed walks away with a stamp of being just SPAM that fits unjustly into the schemes of a humanistic godless world culture and businesses!

2nd Encounter – In the Market with Janet Parshall – During Early Obama

Since I got your ear, a while back early in the Obama years, there was another incident with Moody Radio where I put out one of my first music videos.  Oh I was so proud of doing it because I was using technology to make a music video and to express how I felt about America.   I did get lots and lots of hits on YouTube and I mean thousands and then I decided to put a link to it at “In the Market with Janet Parshall” (another Moody Radio program) on Facebook and wow did I get hit hard there!

I was told to take it down as it was the worst video she has ever seen said the moderator as she emphatically declared she knows Janet and that she would say to take it down!   Well this kept up for a while and finally I felt shamed by the comments she was making while dialoguing with her and took it down.  I then recalled hearing on her radio program that people should hire professionals to do videos.   But I can tell you I was hurt personally because my heart was into the music and video presentation.  I admit the vocals were really high pitched and I didn’t know how to get the audio on a better track.   I just did not have the equipment but attempted to have a video on the way America was heading.   At that time, I spoke of the alarming immorality.   The thing that stands out in my mind was that I did not have the money to get professional help and it also stand true today.  So truth was suppressed at that time.  But on Google YouTube, the comments were good.   I had few dislikes.  I remember some asking me for a copy to show at their church.
