War of Two Worlds!
There is a spiritual war being executed each day in Christians, whether it be through thoughts, actions, temptations or places we go! It’s a war between Two Worlds, the spiritual and the fleshly sinful man. The Bible speaks about the war of the inward man (spirit) John 4:24 that wars against the soul (mind) of man Romans 7:21-23.
Spiritual Battles compared to Every day Burdens
Certainly there are groanings to get up in the morning, by the sweat and labor to earn a living. Yes they are burdens in life but not necessarily the Battles Paul is referring to that Christians faces morally. It could be a moral problem if you just think that someone should go to work for you? But all creation groans of the curse of sin Romans 8:22-23.
The battle I’m speaking about is clearly described in the Bible as a moral battle, the battle between right and wrong! A war between the spirit and the soulish man governed by the dictates of Satan and the fallen heart of man to carry out sinful deeds and passions of the flesh! What are they? Here is a sample of the sins of the flesh, Romans 1:28-32.
Natural Man Versus the Spiritual Man
The natural man or those that deny Jesus Christ of His salvation have a limited battle of the conscience whereby over time that person will be deadened and lifeless as he is naturally lured into sinful passions. This gravitational pull to fulfill the lustful desires of the flesh will darken and deaden his conscience of God’s moral righteousness.
The sinful soul of man, (Mind, Emotions and Will) can certainly function apart from God with a perpetual cycle of sin However, if that person accepts Jesus as Lord and savior, the soul Matthew 16:26 can take its directives from his spirit, that is united To God’s Spirit upon receiving forgiveness of his sin of unbelief.
And then comes the Romans 7:21-23 struggles where Paul describes about his new nature and his fallen nature both existing at the same time. But the good news is that the old nature can be restricted in the Joy of His presence and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit.
How does Man communicate with God?
For man to communicate with God and understand His Bible, the spirit in a person must be quickened and made alive to His Spirit. Have you ever read the passages where Jesus speaks to Nicodemus about being born again John 3:5. A man is born in the flesh to this world represented by the water, and has to be reborn in God’s Spirit united to man’s spirit to be born in God’s Kingdom.
The quickened or born again spirit of man upon believing in Jesus is united with God Spirit and that’s how a person communicates with God while reading His Word the Bible. Things start to make sense, and the Word of God becomes alive and active, Hebrews 4:12-13.
What makes Human Life Special over Angels or Animals?
God created Man and Woman in His image with a Spirit, Soul and Body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23! Did you know that you don’t even own your soul, Ezekiel 18:4. God’s Holy Spirit communicates to our quickened spirit. The mind of a person within the soul then decides if they will obey God’s Spirit or succumb to the sinful passions of the flesh.
Are Angels, or Animals Created in God’s Image?
One may ask, how is a person created in God’s image? Just to name a few, God is Holy and Just and expects His people to be the same as He handed down the commandments reflecting His Holiness.
Have you ever though about angles? They were not created in the image of God. Nor have I found one verse stating that they can invent things but find scripture stating they are messengers of God Hebrew 1:13-14. And also to separate the wicked from the righteous Matthew 13:49-50. On the other hand, the animal creation was not created with a spirit to communicate to God. Scripture does say because of sin and rebellion to God that all creation groans” in Romans 8:22 and suffer pain just like we do.
